Curriculum Overview – EYFS

At Kenningtons, we strongly believe that high quality early learning helps provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. Through following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, our Nursery and Reception teachers plan fun and engaging activities and experiences both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms, which meet the needs and interests of the children. There are seven areas of learning and development which shape the content of the children’s activities and all of the areas of learning are interconnected. We ensure that the activities and sessions planned are purposeful and include a mix of adult-led and child-initiated play. Play enables the children to grow in confidence as they learn to explore, think about problems and relate to others. Our aim is that, by the time our children leave Reception, they have a broad range of knowledge and skills across the seven areas of learning so that they are ready to move forwards through school successfully.
