26/09/18 Year 6 Interhouse

On Wednesday the 26th September 2018, Year 6 took part in their annual  Interhouse event. The event showcased different team sports they had taken part in throughout their time as juniors. Children participated in high-5 netball, football and bench ball. The results of the Interhouse are displayed below. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was lovely to see so many parents at the event cheering their children - we would like to thank all parents for their continued support.

Parental Feedback for the Year 6 Interhouse

We would like to thank Year 6 parents for completing feedback slips to let us know their views on what went well at the Year 6 Interhouse and what changes they would like to see in the future.

Parents praised the organisation of the event and the behaviour of children.

“Very well organised and well behaved children and loved it.”

“Enjoyed the teamwork and gamesmanship of the children. They want to win on each event.”

As the Year 6 Interhouse took place outside on the school grounds, we trialled permitting each pupil to have two adults come to support them (historically we have limited the number to one adult per child). This was a success at this event and we will be looking at this model for future events.

“It was nice to watch smaller groups with our own child participating throughout...having both parents in attendance was good.”

In terms of suggesting ways to improve the event, parents have suggested potential changes such as amending the seating arrangements, changing the team organisation, adding “extra games” and to “get the adults involved” in future Interhouse events. We will continue to collect parent feedback throughout the year to help us keep improving events.

13/07/18 The Battle of the Elements

On 13th July 2018, Kenningtons Primary Academy proudly presented "The Battle of the Elements" performance. ‘The Battle of the Elements’ was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to showcase dance routines they had choreographed, with the assistance of Royal Opera House workshops, during Kenningtons Cultural Week. This project was undertaken with the generous support of the Royal Opera House as part of the Thurrock Trailblazer programme. We are very grateful to pupils, parents, staff and the local community for coming together to make Cultural Week 2018 such a success! Photo credit: Royal Opera House, Photographer: Jen Farrant.

28/03/18 Investors in Pupils Assembly

The Class Champions were very brave and delivered a whole school assembly about their recent meeting with three of our school Governors. As part of our quest for the Investors in Pupils award, they found out exactly what the governors' roles entailed before passing on this information to their peers.

Well done Class Champions and thank you Governors for all of your hard work!

29/12/17 Letters written to and received from inspirational people

The children in 6N have applied their formal letter writing skills by penning letters to sports personalities, politicians, TV show hosts, writers and other inspirational people. Each child wrote to somebody who inspires them in life.  The aim was to receive some help in creating our class induction book - we asked for a few words or even a foreword (if the busy celebs had time in their schedules!). They have had a fantastic response to their well-written letters.
